Friday, November 07, 2014: Infosys is planning to expand its Electronics city campus in Bengaluru to meet the medium-term need for higher capacity. Infosys executive vice-president Ramadas Kamath told Economics Times, “We are planning to file an application before the HLC. If approved by the government, this will help us create an additional capacity of 15,000-20,000 seats at our main campus.”
A committee will be set up on 6 November to discuss about the infrastructure issues raised by Infosys at the Devanahalli IT Park, it will be headed by CM Siddaramaiah. The company will now go for its Plan B after surrendering land in Devanahalli due to the lack of road connectivity and drinking water facilities there.
Infosys owns a 15-acre land bank at Electronics city, apart from its main 80-acre campus. It now needs an approval from the state government to utilize this land parcel due to their need for proper infrastructural facilities.
The Electronics city campus will involve 26,000 seats. The software giant will consolidate its Bengaluru operations at Electronics City. Kamath told, “We have no plans to further expand our seating capacity in Mysore and Mangalore without a visible improvement in infrastructure facilities at these two cities.”
