India Embarks on a Massive Digital Expansion Programme


Ravi Shankar Prasad, IT minister said on Tuesday that the country seeks to begin a massive digital expansion programme which will cross the revenues from IT and business process management to $350 billion by 2025.

Prasad also invited Britain to participate in the business opportunities offered by “a new India” , in the digital domain as new opportunities are consistently growing in the areas like artificial intelligence, Internet of Things, low cost cyber-security solutions and start-ups.

“While we work out the details, no one doubts the potential to make India’s digital economy worth $1 trillion, employing 5-7 people in the next 5-7 years” said Prasad.

He also mentioned about a new data-protection and privacy regime that India is working on and added that the country seeks to have a “robust law” that will become a global benchmark in data security.
