On Monday, Hyundai Motor released its first all-electric N brand car, the Ioniq 5 N, in its home market, stepping up its shift towards offering modern transport solutions.

Hyundai Motor showcased its first all-electric model under the N brand, the Ioniq 5 N, initially unveiled at the 2023 Goodwood Festival of Speed in Great Britain. Powered by an 84 kWh battery, the vehicle can sprint from 0 to 100 kph in a mere 3.4 seconds, according to a company statement.

The Ioniq 5 N retails at USD 58,000 post individual consumption taxes and green vehicle tax benefits, offering a considerable range of about 350 kms on a single charge.

Bridging modern technology and motorsport innovation, the Ioniq 5 N integrates the foundational Ioniq 5 model’s Electric Global Modular Platform (E-GMP) with the N brand’s motorsport-derived technologies. Not just limiting to Ioniq 5 and the upcoming Ioniq 6 and 7, this E-GMP platform also finds utilization in Hyundai’s independent Genesis brand’s GV60 SUV, as well as in vehicles from its smaller affiliate, Kia Corp., specifically in their EV6 and EV9 SUVs.

Hyundai intends to commit an investment of 109.4 trillion won by 2032, targeting to sell 1 million electric units by 2030. A dedicated EV manufacturing facility, the Hyundai Motor Group Metaplant America in Georgia, U.S., is underway with a production capacity of 300,000 units annually, eyeing to commence operations in late 2024. Another specialized facility is in progress in Korea, aiming to kickstart production in 2025.

In line with offering enhanced performance capabilities in daily commuting, the N models bridge Hyundai’s high-performance N brand and the general Hyundai brand, thus adding a performance-inspired flavour to the base model vehicles through the N Line.
