Soon HP will offer refurbished personal computers at affordable ranges for customers, thereby bringing in tough competition to India’s refurbished market
Technology major, HP has informed that it is exploring the refurbished market in India, meaning, it is looking at the possibility to sell personal computers made by recycling different components of various computers. Sumeer Chandra, MD, HP Inc India, said that the refurbished market in the country was huge but an unorganized one. The company is eyeing at this affordable segment of personal computers.
He further said that HP was exploring the market to see if it could produce its own range of refurbished invention or introduce an alternative product to compete in this market. It intends to cater to the public with its affordable range. Its recent launch of mini desktop, HP 260 G3, starting at Rs. 19990 was for students and institutes to enable affordable digital learning for students across the country. The desktop minis were HP’s path to venture into cost-effective desktop PCs segment.
HP wants to cater to Tier 2 and 3 towns through its affordable range of PCs. The company aims to expand its reach to these towns with a vision of boosting its space in the affordable market.

HP, reportedly, has been eyeing the sizeable market. It considers this market important to reach out to the customers HP has not been able to cover yet. The MD believes that HP will be able to enter this new market with the help of its repairing centres in India. HP aims to expand itself by attracting new customers by providing quality PCs at affordable prices.
India has less than 10 million PC users in the country. Reports suggest that the sale of PCs has been increasing at a slower pace than that of smartphone users.
HP has around 32 per cent market share in the PC section. Recently, Flipkart introduced a separate site of refurbished computers. This recycled segment is expected to grow in the next 5-6 years.
