According to a report by the Ecomonic Times, the government has said that it has no plans to reduce prices of 5G spectrum for the next round of auction. The report also said that minister of information technology and telecom Ravi Shankar Prasad told the Lok Sabha assembly that the base price for the upcoming round of auction has been proposed by the Telecom Regulatory Authority of India (TRAI) on August 1, 2018, and it will remain the same for all the upcoming auctions.

As per the report, the government said that it has a huge amount of unsold spectrum for auction and the price of this spectrum as per TRAI in its recommendations is INR 4.9 lakh crore. This includes spectrum like 700 MHz, 800 MHz, 900 MHz, 1.8 GHz, 2.1 GHz, 2.3 GHz, 2.5 GHz, 3.3 – 3.4 GHz, 3.4 – 3.6 GHz bands.

The report also said that spectrum like 700 MHz, 800 MHz, 900 MHz, 1.8 GHz, 2.1 GHz, 2.3 GHz, 2.5 GHz, 3.3 – 3.4 GHz, 3.4 – 3.6 GHz bands are also included. Prasad also said that bandwidth 3.3 to 3.4 GHz and 3.4 to 3.6 GHz is available for 5G auction and will be enough to launch 5G services in India.
