The carport structure will generate 1,475 MWh of power per year and will cover around 30 per cent of Skoda plant’s yearly energy consumption

Fourth Partner Energy, a leading solar energy company in India, has commissioned a carport of 980 kWp at Škoda Auto India’s manufacturing facility in Aurangabad district of Maharashtra. This project is a part of Škoda Auto’s ‘Green Future’ strategy and commissioned in line with ‘India 2.0’ project. The carport is estimated to cut 922 tonnes of carbon dioxide emissions every year.

Spread across an area of 8,000 square metres, the carport is expected to give covered parking space for around 300 cars. The carport structure will generate 1,475 MWh of power per year and will cover around 30 per cent of Skoda plant’s yearly energy consumption.

Unique structure

Commenting on the development, Lubos Hradecky, Director – Production, Quality and Logistics, Škoda Auto India, said, “A ‘Green Factory’ is fundamental to Škoda Auto’s ‘Green Future’ strategy. We are pleased to have associated with Fourth Partner Energy on this strategic asset investment.”

“The unique carport structure of the Advanced Solar Power Generation Project demonstrates how technology has enabled OEMs to transition from mainstream to cleaner alternative sources of energy. We look forward to working collaboratively with Fourth Partner Energy to achieve our commitment to an increased footprint in the renewable sector under the ‘India 2.0’ Project,” Hradecky said.

Leverages technology

Speaking about the project, Saif Dhorajiwala, Founder, Fourth Partner Energy, said, “We are extremely proud to be associated with Škoda Auto India for this project. Our past experience, design and engineering capabilities, health and safety norms and robust after-service capabilities went a long way in helping us bag the project.”

“Skoda was particularly impressed by how Fourth Partner Energy leverages technology to not only monitor the plant real time, but also give access to view the plant’s performance through our indigenously developed remote monitoring app,” he added.

Fourth Partner Energy has installed more than 1,600 plants across 22 states in the country. In June this year, the company has raised $70 million of capital from The Rise Fund.
