April 22, 2015: The Central government has granted an in-principle approval to Mahratta Chamber of Commerce Industry and Agriculture (MCCIA) for setting up a brown field electronics cluster.
The cluster, conceived by the MCCIA under the government’s cluster development scheme for diverse industrial sectors, will intensify testing, designing and prototyping capacities of small and medium enterprises (SMEs) which lack the financial support to invest in the high-priced electronics equipment required for these actions.
The cluster project will comprise a common facility centre (CFC) which will consist of numerous facilities including a designing centre, environment lab and test and measurement lab. The project will be set up with an investment of Rs 710 million of which Rs 500 million will come from the Centre as grant-in-aid while the remaining will be contributed by the members of the chamber.
