ELECTRONIC ASSEMBLY, a Germany-based innovative display manufacturer, showcased compact TFT colour display EA uniTFT050 at Electronica 2018 that is specifically developed for use in medical devices. The display is equipped with integrated command set and object-based layout software, which allow creation of modern user interfaces conveniently through drag-and-drop, even without expert knowledge.

During the development of display series, the company focused on the special needs for medical technology components. The EA uniTFT050 is developed under the strict quality management in compliance with ISO 9001:2015.

Key Features

The uniTFT050 sports a compact 5-inch screen diagonal (136 cm x 96 cm) and offers a vector graphic display of 800 x 480 pixels. The extremely fast image build-up of 50 frame per second (fps) guarantees a streak-free display even with moving objects and animations. The excellent brightness of 900 cd/m² ensures a high-contrast display under all lighting conditions, even in direct sunlight.

The EA uniTFT50-ATC is further incorporated with a capacitive multitouch surface. Similar to a smartphone, the display reacts to various finger gestures, even behind a glass pane of 4 mm thick or while wearing thin gloves.

Supports all common images format

The screen supports images in all common formats including JPG, PNG, SVG, etc and can easily be integrated into the layout. The freely scalable vector display having Unicode support helps in even displaying Chinese characters. The display manages several translations of texts to be displayed in its own database. Audio files can also be played back as required such as to indicate an alarm or error acoustically.

The screen modules are powered with 3.3 V. In addition, the modules provide six serial interfaces including two SPI, RS232 and I²C connections each. The serial interfaces are used for communicating with a host, but these can also be used with actuators or sensors. Camera images can be directly displayed on the screen through the analogue video input and can be stored as hardcopy images on integrated microSD card for the purpose of documentation.
