According to ABI Research, the worldwide market for digital set top boxes (STB)—including hard-to-track free-to-air (FTA) satellite boxes will grow from 205 million in number in 2010 to 226 million in 2015.
Sales in North America and Western Europe are falling following successful digital transitions, while Asia-Pacific, Latin America and Eastern Europe are seeing significant growth. Digital terrestrial boxes are growing the fastest worldwide as Asia-Pacific and Latin American countries move through their digital transitions and towards analogue shut off of broadcasts.
