Debuted at the EDS Leadership Summit in Las Vegas, the new look will roll out throughout 2023

Globally leading electronic components distributor, DigiKey Electronics recently announced an update to its brand system including a refreshed logo, updated colour palette and typeface, tagline, simplified name and updated brand voice. The company believes that the updated logo and brand system is an evolution of its historic look that allows for design flexibility across digital platforms while reinforcing an engineered feel in a more modern, timeless way. The new elements were launched during the EDS Leadership Summit held in Las Vegas.

The press release stated that the refreshed brand identity was designed to emphasize progress and connection with suppliers and customers while reflecting DigiKey’s digital-first, forward-looking perspective.

To better reflect its “deep technical product and digital solutions portfolio”, the brand update also features a simplified company name (earlier, Digi-Key).

The president of DigiKey, Dave Doherty remarked, “For 50 years, DigiKey’s focus has centred on accelerating progress for every engineer, designer and builder. Our updated look and feel reflects that inspirational progress, our leadership position in the industry and our commitment to digital experiences and solutions that move goods and ideas forward.”

DigiKey said that it partnered with a creative consultancy called Lippincott to renew its iconic elements while conveying modernity. Senior partner-brand strategy at Lippincott, Tim Cunningham said, “Our design work on DigiKey’s brand refresh combined its legacy of success with the vision for future opportunities and growth. The new brand system supports the core business and creates paths for bolder moves within an innovative industry.”

Last month, the company celebrated its 50th year in business.

US-based DigiKey Electronics is a global innovator in the distribution of electronic components and automation products. 1972-born Digi-Key claims to provide over 14.9 million components from around 2,400 quality name-brand manufacturers with a range of products in stock and available for immediate shipment.
