According to a report by the Hindu Business Line, US-based Detroit Engineered Products (DEP) wants to offer its expertise in developing electric vehicles (EVs) and its associated systems for the Indian market. The company will provide such expertise at an economical cost.
The report said that the company has come out with a prototype of an electric scooter designed for the Indian market. It has been designed to showcase the design and development capabilities in the future automotive technologies space.
Four removable batteries with a capacity of 4KWh
According to the report, the scooter has been built to provide a range of 150 km. It has four removable batteries with a capacity of 4KWh. The company claims that the scooter can accelerate from zero to 60 km in seven seconds with a maximum vehicle speed of 80 km/hour. Radha Krishnan, president, DEP said that the battery capacity will help the scooter to run for a week with an average travel distance of 25 km a day.
Solar battery pack and a feet gyro board
The report added that the company is also in the process of adding new technologies. These include a solar battery pack and a feet gyro board. The solar battery pack aims to provide an additional 20 per cent range. The feet gyro board is for resting when the vehicle stops.
The company is also working with many companies in India for the development of electric products. As per the report, Karthik Shankaran, chief innovation officer, DEP, said that the company will be involved in the supply of electric bus orders of State Transport Undertakings.
