pcbtestingMonday, February 03, 2014: Taking yet another significant move in the development of ESDM sector in the country, Department of Electronics and IT (DEITY) is now planning to rope in consultants, who can help in preparing a sound strategy for the growth of the sector in India. The Indian ESDM industry is estimated to touch $400 billion turnover by 2020.

DEITY is looking for consultants, who will be responsible for formulation and implementation of policies and guidelines related to the promotion of the Indian ESDM sector, it revealed in an advertisement.

Demand for technology products, including electronic goods, has increased significantly in India. However, the production capacity of the country is way too less as compared to the estimated demand. The estimated production of electronics goods in India is likely to be around $104 billion by the year 2020. A gap of $296 billion between the demand and production is what DEITY is looking to address, to reduce India’s dependence on import of electronics.
