Anritsu’s Vector Network Analyzers and antenna and measurement systems technology from Aalborg University will enable the research

Anritsu Corporation recently announced the extension of its 6G research activities to include new innovative research together with Denmark’s Aalborg University. As per the official release, this new 6G research program will develop novel techniques for channel sounding and communication channel sensing in new 6G frequency bands, including the millimetre-wave and sub-terahertz bands. Anritsu’s Vector Network Analyzers with features to enhance the measurement methods, and antenna and measurement systems technology from Aalborg University will enable this development.

The collaborators emphasised a better understanding of radio channel characteristics while discussing the frequencies and waveforms for next-gen mobile communications such as 6G and IMT-2030. Their statement read that the joint research program will enable new techniques for high-resolution and wide bandwidth radio channel characterization, which will contribute to system modelling and performance evaluation for 6G technologies. The partners believe that the current research work will support the evaluation of ‘Joint Communications and Sensing’ techniques and waveforms for candidate 6G technologies.

Pleased to extend their research and collaborate with Aalborg University, Head of Global Market Technology at Anritsu, Jonathan Borrill remarked, “The university has a proven world-class capability and knowledge for channel sounding and OTA measurements, and we believe that this research program will contribute world-leading results and test capabilities to the industry.”

Wei Fan, professor and leader of the ‘Wireless Propagation and Over the Air testing’ research group with Aalborg University commented, “Radio channel modelling is essential for the design and development of 6G system and interfaces, which starts with reliable measurements of channels by using high-fidelity channel sounders. We are very happy to work with Anritsu, a world-leading radio frequency test instrument manufacturer, to develop state-of-the-art channel sounders for 6G communication and sensing systems in this project.”

Also, Anritsu recently partnered with Artiza Networks to offer high-level, wide-ranging solutions to issues faced by Open RAN (Radio Access Network).

Over 125 years old Japanese multinational corporation, Anritsu has been a provider of innovative communications test and measurement solutions. Anritsu aims to help customers to develop wireless, optical, microwave/RF, and digital solutions for R&D, manufacturing, installation, and maintenance applications, as well as multidimensional service assurance solutions for network monitoring and optimization.
