Andhra Pradesh government to formulate new policies for IT and electronics industry

electronicsSaturday, September 06, 2014: Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu said that his government is focusing on electronics and IT industry for better growth in next few years so that this industry generates more jobs for around 5 lakh people.

New policies for IT, electronics and innovation are getting formulated to meet the technology sector’s requirements. The minister was speaking at a convocation ceremony at Rajiv Gandhi University of Knowledge Technologies (RGUKT) in Hyderabad. A release from the Advisor (Communications) to AP Government quoted the CM as, “The new IT policy would emphasise on the need for mega infrastructure, quality human resources and good governance.” Naidu stressed that new enterprises should get a major boost in the upcoming policy and it will focus on SMAC (social media, mobile, analytics and cloud) and IOT (Internet of Things) technologies too.

Naidu stressed on the importance of innovation to create a better society to live in. He said, “A small city like Tel Aviv (in Israel) stands second only to Silicon Valley in degree of innovation. We, too, can create innovation -driven cities given the abundant talent and entrepreneurship we have in AP.” Naidu government would set up premier IT institutes in partnership with top firms and foreign varsities with focus on fabless semi-conductor industry, manufacturing of electronic goods and components.

He urged students not to focus only on classroom teaching but also develop their functional skills with innovations. Students need to create jobs for others too, and not only look for jobs. At the event Information and Broadcasting Minister Prakash Javadekar was also present. Naidu released a booklet “Tidings of a new beginning” on the recently concluded Budget session of Parliament at the interactive session.
