Altium Invests In India, Headquarters In Bengaluru

IT firm  Altium is set to enhance its digital and physical space in India through its Bengaluru office and invests to educate India’s next generation of tech experts.

Last week, Altium, the American-Australian software company, announced of expanding its presence in Bengaluru, India. Recently, it has invested in recruiting technical and sales staff in a newly opened office space in the city. Besides aiming to understand the local electronics environment and customer base, Altium has planned to sponsor the education of India’s upcoming professionals in the electronics industry.  

The new establishment will enable Altium to work closely with its growing customer base in India. The company aims to help the industry adopt practices for efficiency, sustainability, and faster innovation cycles. To achieve this, it plans to host its Altium 365 cloud platform in the region by the second half of 2024, prioritising customer benefits and compliance with local data protection regulations. Altium plans to address specific demands of the Indian market through specialised Pre-Sales, Sales & Marketing, and Customer Support teams.

Furthermore, Altium has also invested in educating the next generation of India’s electronics engineers. Altium will leverage several training initiatives which include the Altium Educator Center, the Altium Student Lab, and the Altium Women’s Scholarship Program. These programs aim to prepare upcoming electronic designers for the Indian job market, offering free access to Altium software, curriculum, and training to build skills for the industry.

Altium sees this expansion as a direct support to the country’s Make-in-India initiative. India’s electronics sector is anticipated to become a $300 Bn industry by 2026. Altium has stated that this investment will enhance its ties with the country’s electronics sector by providing solutions that foster innovation, streamline production, and lower expenses. 

Pelle Chiari, General Manager & Head of Sales – India has said that Altium is dedicated to positioning India as a hub of the electronics industry. This move also marks a significant advancement for Altium as it extends its presence into fresh markets. Gérard Métrailler, SVP & General Manager, Software, Altium sees Bengaluru as a centre of electronics innovation in India where the San Diego-based company will have its Indian headquarters. 

Altium has provided solutions to boost innovation in industries from automotive and aerospace to consumer electronics for almost four decades. Their clients span enterprises, individual PCB designers, manufacturers, part suppliers, and purchasers on a global scale.
