solarplantWednesday, June 11, 2014: Solar power plant manufacturer, ACME Solar has announced that it is looking to develop 30 MW solar power projects in the state of Chhattisgarh. This would entail an estimated investment of Rs 2,400 million, the company said in a statement.

As per the bidding process, the selected developer would sign a power purchase agreement for a period of 25 years with the Chhattisgarh State Power Distribution Company Ltd (CSPDCL) on the uniform tariff submitted during the bid. “This contract was won in a fierce tariff-based competition among 16 developers of international fame. With this addition, our solar power portfolio has reached 180 MW and we are on way to generate 1,000 MW by year 2017,” ACME Solar’s CEO Manoj Kumar Upadhyay was quoted as saying by Business Standard.

ACME Solar had earlier won the contracts for 100 MW solar PV power projects during the financial bidding under the Jawaharlal Nehru National Solar Mission (JNNSM) Phase-II, that was organised by the Solar Energy Corporation of India (SECI). ACME now shares one of the largest portions in the solar projects in India. ACME Solar is a collective venture between ACME Cleantech Solutions Ltd, EDF Energies Nouvelles (EDF EN), Electricite de France SA (French state-run firm), and EREN (natural resources saving group). The company has bagged 150 MW of solar power projects, which include the JNNSM Phase II projects. It further aims to have a solar power generation of 1000 MW, by 2017.
