The company is also planning to set up a new manufacturing facility in Noida in the coming months. In this regard, The company has acquired 50 acres of land in Uttar Pradesh.
However, the domestic handset maker already has a manufacturing facility in Noida but the new facility is aimed at doubling the production to compete in growing smatrphone manufacturing market in the country.
The big foreign players like Foxconn has already set up big mobile manufacturing facility in Maharashtra giving tough competition to domestic players.
At present, most of the mobile manufacturing done in India revolves around assembly. The company feels this is the segment where India’s low labour cost can help and also add to employment.
Lava in India employs about 4,000 people in manufacturing and about 8,000-10,000 people on the field.
