According a report published by the Economic Times, Nokia-branded phone makers HMD is looking forward to making India its future export hub. For that, it would be using a large part of the $230 million it has recently raised from the investors like Nokia Technologies, Google, and Qualcomm for the purpose as shared by the executive.
Florian Seiche, CEO at HMD has also shared that HMD would work with local contract manufacturers, chipset designer Qualcomm, and internet giant Google. This would help to bring low-cost 4G and affordable 5G smartphones in the coming future. Google and Qualcomm had also announced a similar partnership with Indian telecom operator Reliance Jio earlier.
Opportunities
The company is also planning to partner with big operators and telcos as well in addition to the internet players or the online players that they have already partnered with. Seiche also added that there’s a great opportunity in making fruitful partnerships with other other operators and channel partners in India.
