Energy Efficiency Services Ltd (EESL) executive vice chairperson Saurabh Kumar has resigned from his duties due to personal reasons.

One of the individuals who had planned how EESL would look like and function, Kumar had initially not taken any role with the organisation. An Indian Revenue Officer, he was credited for conducting income tax raids on the biggest and most influential names in the history of India.

Kumar, an IIT Kanpur Graduate, was with EESL for more than 8.5 years. He had told us earlier that working with the government was not on the card for him from the very beginning. He was all set to fly out of India after completing his graduation. It was his mother who has asked him to give UPSC a try. Kumar’s wife is also an IRS officer.

“Today, when I look back at those days, I have no regrets. Instead I am all thanks to my mother who inspired me to take on the exams,” Kumar had shared with us earlier.

Kumar in his career has also worked with United Nations and Bureau of Energy Efficiency. His fellow colleagues often refer to him as “Jack of all trades and master of none.” However, a close look at what he has done in life shows on the contrary that he has been a master of everything he has done.

“There is no legacy you can hang on to, no wealth you can turn back to, to be successful and give your life its true meaning. The only choice is to work hard. The basic thing and requirement is to be honest with yourself. There is no substitute for hard work, and if you do not do hard work, life will become very hard for you,” Kumar had told us when we were interacting him for a feature called MyStory. He was recalling the advice he received from his grandfather and father.

You Can Read Our Feature “MyStory on Kumar’s Life” in The June 2021 Edition of ELectronics For You Magazine.
