Ludhiana will soon get world’s largest high-end electric bicycle manufacturing facility, which will have a capacity of manufacturing 15 million electric bicyles per year. The unit will be build in an area covering 300 acres of land, this was announced by the state chief minister Sukhbir Singh Badal.
The chief minister is attending China Cycle 2016 exhibition in Shanghai, where this idea of Cycle Valley developed and China will help in Ludhiana and achieving this geal.
The facility, which will be known as Cycle Valley, will initially provide employment to 1.5 lakh persons and go up to 4.5 lakh once it reaches its full potential, he announced. He also said the project would revolutionize bicycle production. “We expect Punjab to become a hub for the export of high-end bicycles as creation of a unique eco-system will result in reduction of cost by up to 20 per cent. The industry will benefit by the housing of manufacturing units and ancillaries in one location.”
Also present on the occasion was China Bicycle Association (CBA) president Ma Zhaoyang Wang who said the cycle industry in India and China have several commonalities. He said CBA is ready to join hands with the industry in India.
