India’s ambitious plan to generate 100 GW of solar energy by 2022 has been encouraging a lot of foreign players to come and invest in this country. The new entrant now is Isreal-based Ecoppia who is setting up their state-of-the-art manufacturing plant near Chennai to make robotic solar cleaners.
Robotic solar cleaners are equipped with microfibers and are used to to clean solar panels. So instead of using water, these robotic solar cleaners use microfibers to clean solar panels. Each robot can cover about 100 square feet of panel a minute, saving not only water, but time. These robots can be digitally controlled though a centrally located centre and they can start and finish at the same time.
“We’ve seen demand grow across the board in 2015, but India remains our top market and the natural choice for us to build a state-of-the-art production facility,” said Eran Meller, CEO of Ecoppia. “To do that we needed a strong partner, one that could help scale up production quickly. With Sanmina as our original equipment manufacturer (OEM), there’s no doubt we’re moving into a very strong market position.”
