IIT Bhubaneshwar Partners With Gati Shakti

On a visit to IIT Bhubaneshwar, minister of railways, communication and electronics and information technology Ashwini Vaishnaw shared encouraging words with the students. He encouraged students to gear up and accelerate the startup program and informed the students about the startup environment in India. He shared that India now has over 74,000 startups, a stark difference from a meagre 400 in the years 2014-15. He also encouraged and suggested new ideas and innovative projects in the Azadi Mahotsav period.

The minister also transferred the letter of approval by the Government of India to IIT Bhubaneshwar for the inclusion of the institute in the startup program for chips, therefore making it the 31st institute in the country authorised for the manufacturing of semiconductors. He also challenged the students at IIT Bhubaneshwar and said that students should be able to provide 10 uses for 5G technology, and then IIT Bhubaneshwar could potentially get a Centre of Excellence for 5G technology and its usage.

He also exchanged a few ideas with the IITians of Bhubaneshwar institute, and he reiterated that IIT Bhubaneshwar will be entering into a partnership with Gati Shakti for the development of railway technology, depending on the proposals to be received. Other institute members such as Dr Rajendra Prasad Singh, Chairman & Board of Governor of IIT and Prof PV Satyam, dean of IIT Bhubaneshwar were also present and spoke to the students.

“Under this program, we will design chips. If we get facilities and favourable conditions here, we can also manufacture this in future,” said a professor of the institution. He also said that the C2S program will try to address the growing concerns related to quality manpower and training, research and development, hardware intellectual property design and development, system design and development, application-oriented research and development and prototype design.
