Huawei Appoints New CEO For its India Operations

  • Jay Chen, ex-CEO, Huawei India, has moved to take a leadership role in company’s Asia-Pacific region business

Huawei has promoted Xiongwei (David) Li to the position of CEO India. David was working as VP of Huawei’s human resources department since September 2019.

In his new role, David will be responsible for overseeing all aspects of Huawei Telecommunications India’s strategy, directions and operations in the country, ensuring its commitment as a strategic and reliable ICT partner in accelerating the digital visions of India.

“I am very excited to be given the opportunity to lead Huawei Telecommunications in India. As a global ICT solutions provider, we are committed to the strategic development of India’s ICT industry and will continue to work with the government, customers and ecosystem partners to bring future technological innovations,” Li stated.

Interestingly, India has just announced changes in its FDI policy for the neighbouring countries including China. The government of India is also yet to announce whether Huawei will be a part of 5G trials in the country or not.

David will now be responsible for overseeing all aspects of Huawei Telecommunications India’s strategy, directions and operations in the country, ensuring its commitment as a strategic and reliable ICT partner in accelerating the digital visions.

Li has been associated with Huawei since 2002. He had joined the company as a software developer and has held various leadership positions since then.

He worked as VP sales for Huawei in India from 2015 to 2017. David has also served Huawei CEO for its Cambodia business.
