The Centre for Development of Telematics (C-DOT), is working with the University of Bristol to set up a 5G test bed in the country, besides developing back haul solutions for providing access for rural connectivity.
In a recent report, Economic Times reported that C-DOT is building a testbed in Delhi and is advising the Indian government on 5G trials. The University of Bristol will share its expertise and architecture for 5G test bed in the country.
Dimitra Simeonidou, Director of Smart Internet Lab, University of Bristol, told ET in a recent interaction that collaboration with the C-DoT is to link up on 5G. She further informed that having launched a project earlier, it is clear that the UK has an advantage in terms of not just delivering commercial 5G systems, but delivering testbeds.
Under the collaboration, C-DOT has provided its optical equipment to the university for their 5G test beds in the UK.
The university’s Smart Internet Lab is the only institute to receive funding from the central UK government to deliver a city testbed around 5G. The professor said that the collaboration with C-DOT will now intensify more as the 5G technology gains traction across the globe.
