Adani Power Limited has made an announcement regarding its plans of investing up to Rs 18,400 crore in Karnataka. This is for the setting up of a 1,600 MW thermal power plant as well as another 1,000 MW solar power project in the state.
Adani Power had stated this at its filing to the National Stock Exchange, its exact words were, “We would like to submit that Udupi Power Corporation Ltd, a wholly owned subsidiary of the company has entered into memorandum of understanding with the government of Karnataka to set up 2×800 MW coal-based supercritical power plant in Karnataka with investment of Rs 11,400 crore.”
Adani had also pointed out that its subsidiary, Adani Green Energy Limited. has expressed interest in the setup of 1,000 MW solar power plant in the state having an investment of Rs 7,000 crore.
Apart from this the group also has thermal power projects in Gujarat, Maharashtra and Rajasthan. There will be two further projects coming up in Gujarat and Madhya Pradesh shortly. Adani also has a 40 MW solar power project in Kutch, a district in Gujarat.
