With the draft manufacturing policy unveiled, various companies catering to different sectors, such as consumer and industrial electronics, telecom equipment, computers and solar energy, are gearing up to expand their production facilities in India. Once implemented, the policy will unlock the true potential of manufacturing within the country, feel experts.

The mushrooming production facilities will help boost the development of many other sectors like tools and equipment, test and measurement devices, SMT and through-hole machines, etc.

Samsung Electronics has announced an investment of over Rs 3150 million towards tripling the manufacturing capacity of its Noida plant to 36 million phones a year. India is one of the top three mobile markets for Samsung in the world. It has installed advanced and hi-speed SMD machines at the plant. Godawari Green Energy LtdVenturing into solar domain Godawari Green Energy Ltd (GGEL) has signed an engineering, procurement and construction contract (EPC) with Lauren-Jyoti for a 50 MW concentrated solar power facility in Rajasthan. The project is estimated to cost around Rs 7000 million and is scheduled for completion by March 20, 2013. It will provide 130 gigawatts of power to the national grid, annually. The project will be operated

Nikon India Pvt LtdProducts manufactured:

Japanese digital imaging firm Nikon is considering opening a manufacturing facility in India, as it plans to ramp up India’s contribution to its global sales by around six fold over the next three years. Abengoa SAVenturing into solar domain Abengoa SA has completed a 3 MW concentrated solar power (CSP) plant for the Indian Institute of Technology, Bombay. This is the nation’s first completed CSP plant. Abengoa is responsible for the design, engineering, supply and commissioning of the plant, which represents an investment of US$ 4 million.
