As India envisages becoming a global leader in the manufacturing sector, the soon to be announced manufacturing policy is likely to give this sector a boost. If India has to achieve exponential growth, it would have to push for strong growth in the manufacturing sector. Recognising this, the government is aiming to increase this sector’s share of GDP from about 15-16 per cent to 20-25 per cent by 2025, and create over 100 million jobs.

In order to tap the growing potential available in the country, various companies catering to different sectors such as consumer and industrial electronics, telecom equipment and solar power generation, are on their way to expanding or setting up new facilities, and even forming joint ventures. These new projects will facilitate and boost test and measurement, SMT and EMS companies to extend their services and product range.
