India’s manufacturing sector is set for a giant leap, with the government announcing a slew of measures to boost domestic manufacturing output. As a result, various companies catering to different sectors such as consumer electronics, telecom equipment, computers and solar energy are gearing up to expand their production facilities in India.
New production facilities will help to develop many other sectors like tools and equipment, test and measurement (T&M) devices, surface mount technology (SMT), and through-hole machines, etc.

Panasonic Corporation has established its first manufacturing facility in India at Jhajjar in Haryana, with a capacity of 1,000,000 air conditioners, 400,000 washing machines and 25,000 sets of welding and cutting machines, per annum. This factory is spread over an area of 3,07,561 sq m (76 acres) in the upcoming Model Economic Township in Haryana. Hitachi Hi-Rel Power Electronics, which is part of the Hitachi group, has set up a new manufacturing facility in the Sanand-II Gujarat Industrial Development Corporation (GIDC) Estate in Gandhinagar. This new factory has started manufacturing power electronics products. With an initial investment of Rs 600 million, the factory is spread over 24,281 sq m (6 acres). This new facility will manufacture high voltage drives. Carrier Midea India, a joint venture between Carrier and Midea Group, has commenced operations at its new manufacturing facility at Bawal in Haryana. Spread across 13,935 sq m, the company plans to initially manufacture 700,000 ACs per annum.
