Barco India aims to achieve global standards in quality and productivity

Established in 1996, Barco Electronic Systems (P) Ltd has emerged as a market leader in India. It has earned a reputation as a high-tech MNC in the networked visualisation space with a significant local footprint in command and control centres for security and surveillance, traffic management as well as emergency response. Barco is also a leading brand in the digital cinema space.

Areas of business
The business activities of the company cover a wide range of innovative, high-tech and high-quality networked visualisation products for the Indian market, including large screen display solutions, digital cinema projectors, high-tech medical displays, and rugged displays for professional applications.
Today, Barco India has a well-integrated and established set-up of around 500 people in the country, and is equipped with facilities like R&D, software development, manufacturing, sales, and customer service to support the regional markets in Europe, North America and APAC.

Barco India uses a wide range of machinery. These include:

Manufacturing floor at a glance
Barco, a global technology company, designs and develops networked visualisation products for the entertainment, enterprise and healthcare markets. Barco India has a 14,400sqm facility that also houses a demo centre and a customer support centre.
Barco’s production capacity has grown manifold in the past years. The company is now manufacturing high-tech products for both national and global markets in its state-of-art factory, in compliance with all the international safety and quality norms. Manufactured products are compliant with international standards like UL, Cebec, CE, CCC, etc.

Barco Electronic Systems (P) Ltd has achieved ISO 9000, ISO 14000, AS 9100, JSTD-001 and IEC – 61340-5-1 certification.

Take on ‘Make In India’
Barco looks forward to this as an excellent initiative by the Indian government, though the company has believed in India’s capabilities to manufacture locally, since much earlier. Barco, which is a European MNC, had started manufacturing in India way back in 1998.

Barco’s regional business
Barco India is headquartered in Noida. Its manufacturing, R&D, software lab, and sales and marketing divisions also operate out of this facility. The company has offices in Mumbai and Bengaluru, with customer support in Kolkata and Ahmedabad.
Barco’s international branches are located in Europe, North America and Asia-Pacific.

For Barco, it is all about achieving global standards in quality and productivity. The lower cost of production in India is of course a huge advantage. The company has a very engaged workforce and enabling processes. This has been achieved by continuously training employees both in hard technical skills as well as soft life skills; so having a very stable team helps. Barco claims to work continuously to improve its processes as well as the quality of its products.

Barco is active in more than 90 countries with 3,300 employees worldwide.
