Leading CCTV camera companies in India

leading playersThe demand for security and surveillance equipment is on the rise in India in all the verticals, given the increasing awareness among customers about security. The Indian market for network cameras is growing swiftly, as the enterprises, small and medium businesses and end customers are looking at surveillance technologies as a prime necessity.
The consumption of security products in the residential segment is also increasing rapidly. With the demand for video surveillance going up in this segment, the Indian security and surveillance industry is expected to touch a turnover of US$ 615 million by 2018.
As per the figures of IHS Technology, a US based research firm, the market size of video surveillance equipment (CCTV cameras) in India was US$ 306 million in 2013. The companies manufacturing the equipment have now started eyeing the residential segment, besides the usual government and commercial segments.
The report further states that China dominates the industry with 35 per cent of the global market share while India ranks among the top 10 countries with just about 5 per cent of market share. The study states: “The market for video surveillance equipment in India is witnessing strong tailwinds, and growth is predicted to accelerate throughout the period to 2018. India has the potential to be among the top three countries in the next few years. About 10 million CCTV camera units are supplied every year in the country.”
Ganesh Jivani, MD and CEO, Matrix Comsec, adds his views on the fastest moving category of CCTVs. He says, “The highest revenue currently comes from analogue cameras. However, there is a very clear and strong shift from analogue to IP cameras. The fastest moving product categories in this domain are IP cameras and visitor management systems (VMS), which allow the connection of unlimited cameras to one server along with video analytics like camera tampering detection, intrusion detection, and missing object and motion detection.”
CCTV manufacturing companies are major buyers of electronic components. Highlighting the procurement challenges faced by CCTV companies, Jivani says that electronic components are an integral part of surveillance products, but the challenge is that even basic good quality components are not available in India, and this makes room for imports.

Electronics Bazaar has made an attempt to identify the leading CCTV camera companies in India by studying their growth patterns and latest revenues. Most of the leading players declined to share their India-specific revenues with the EB team, due to which it became challenging to rank the ‘Top 10’ companies in this segment. Therefore, we have listed leading companies who are into the security and surveillance business with CCTV cameras as their major product.

Disclaimer: While Electronics Bazaar’s editorial team has taken utmost care to contact all possible sources to make the list comprehensive, we may have inadvertently left out a few companies.
