Q. How do you see online and e-commerce affecting electronics businesses?

A. The Internet is profoundly affecting almost all businesses. People worldwide use the Internet to do everything from research to purchase products online. e-Commerce intensifies competition and brings benefits to consumers in terms of more choices, lower prices and added convenience.

Online sales are not just about us discovering customers unilaterally, but also customers discovering us positively. This is a win-win situation. Thanks to this, business models will become more diverse and flexible in the future.

Q. Where do you see the distribution scenario of electronic products in India amidst huge impediments?

A. In 2019, the overall electronics market was depressed. But what we have seen is that even though the market is down, a lot of companies are preparing for economic recovery. They are stockpiling better products to wait for the opportunity. Affected by changes, the market inevitably will encounter some difficulties in the business development process; however, we have confidence in the future of the Indian electronics market.

Q. Which segments are seeing an increase in demand?

A. The new energy industry will become mainstream, including photovoltaic/wind power generation, photovoltaic/wind energy storage, electric vehicles (EVs), charging piles, etc.
There has not been an obvious drop in demand in other segments, and most of them are developing stably. As the overall economy turns up, all segments will pick up in the future.

Q. How do you think governmental policies like NPE 2019, Make in India and Startup India boost an organisation?

A. Such policies give local companies a better incentive to develop and manufacture products. As an upstream component supplier, we think these new governmental policies provide us with more opportunities. However, opportunities are for those who are prepared, and so we also need to improve ourselves to better participate in the market.

Q. What are the differentiating aspects that help one stay ahead?

A. To better serve Indian customers, one must enhance local service. For example, local distributors bring value-added solutions to customers, and local teams provide highly-skilled technical support to offer deep expertise for customer satisfaction and conduct technical seminars in India to communicate with customers face-to-face.

Q. Electronics is a competitive sector and, hence, constant innovation and product quality are mandatory. What steps can one undertake to stay relevant?

A. In terms of technology, it is important for companies like us to continuously strive to understand the nature of the power supply and break through the technical difficulties encountered in the industry. We own more than 900 independent intellectual property (IP) rights, including 400 invention patents. And we have established an R&D centre with more than 350 engineers, and have formed an independent R&D and technology innovation system based on basic research, cutting-edge technology research, product development and market transformation to keep the technology development going.

To guarantee continuous improvement and reliability of products, one must carry out strict material supplier evaluation system, incoming quality control (IQC) and final inspection standard (FIS). In 2019, our failure rate of fixed voltage input SMD products was below 16ppm.

In 2020, we will continue to deliver one-stop power solutions to customers throughout the world in terms of performance, quality and cost to meet different power supply needs.

Q. How was your business in 2019?

A. In 2019, our performance in India was roughly the same as in 2018. But from what we have learned about the market and the industry in 2019, we have great hopes for 2020. In 2020, we will continue to provide high-quality products and services to our customers and will continue to conduct urban seminars throughout India to better share our knowledge of power supply with our customers in India. At present, we are mainly focused on offline sales. In 2020, we are also considering online sales and looking for a suitable partner for the Indian market.
