Taiwan Electrical and Electronic Manufacturers’ Association (TEEMA), which earlier came to India with an aim to explore the possibilities of investment has now signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with the Uttar Pradesh Development Systems Corporation Ltd (UPDESCO).
The Taiwan based association will be investing US$ 200 million in developing a 210-acre greenfield electronic manufacturing cluster in Greater Noida.
If reports are to be believed, the land formalities have to be completed within the next month and ground work would begin in six months. The company is planning to start the manufacturing of electronic products within the next two years. The products would include smartphones, semi-conductors, tablets, etc.
Taiwan’s chairman India Economic and Trade Committee Fransis Tsai and educative director, TEEMA, GJ Li, presented their expectations. According to them, the electronic manufacturing cluster (EMC) will be set up across two plots of land, measuring about 100 acres each. About 10 acres will be reserved for facilities.It followed a government order of November 13, 2014, which approved the establishment of an EMC by UPDESCO as chief promoter of the project through Greater Noida Authority.
