In February 2012, STMicroelectronics introduced a new generation of its smart reset chips.
Features and USP: The chips provide a means of resetting ‘frozen’ gadgets. The dual assert STM6524 IC effectively prevents accidental resets. The single assert STM6519 targets single button electronic devices like tablets and e-readers, with a similar programmable delay reset.
In addition to a small package size, the devices implement a customisable extended input delay time, from 0.5 to 10 seconds, which increases flexibility and enables manufacturers to distinguish their products through specific user interface settings. These also integrate a dedicated test mode, which improves device testability and slashes test costs.
