Digital technology leader, Samsung Electronics was recently awarded the first prize for Air conditioners at the National Energy Conservation Awards 2011.
Samsung was given the Award as the best Manufacturer of BEE Star Labelled Appliances in the air conditioner category by the Union Minister for Power, Sushilkumar Shinde at a function held in Delhi.
The function was presided over by the Prime Minister Manmohan Singh and attended by industry, government and Bureau of Energy Efficiency representatives.
Samsung has won the award based on criteria like the number of star labelled products sold, the energy savings achieved thanks to its technology and the growth in sales of energy efficient products over the previous year
“We are honoured to receive this prestigious award because it recognises our endeavour to introduce and promote energy efficient products in the Indian market. Samsung was the first to introduce star ratings across its entire Refrigerator range and we are committed to promoting energy efficiency across our entire product portfolio, be it televisions, refrigerators or air conditioners,” said Mahesh Krishnan, vice president, home appliances, Samsung India. Samsung has also received a Certificate of Merit for its refrigerators at the NECA 2011.
