The government of Karnataka has planned to come up with a policy to promote IT and related industries in smaller cities. Karnataka’s new information technology and electronics hardware policy aims to set up four electronics hardware parks and promote smaller cities as tech-hubs. The electronics hardware parks will come up in the regions of Bengaluru-Tumkur and Mysore-Nanjangud in the south, Shimoga-Hassan in the central part of the state, and Hubli-Dharwad in the north. The government will provide Rs 250 million for the project in the 2011-12 state budget to be presented in February.
