Global aerospace major Boeing on Friday announced expanding its engineering and technology operations here to focus on data analytics, internet-of-things, avionics, design, testing and research.
The company’s Indian subsidiary, which opened the Centre in January at Bagmane Technology Park in the suburbs, will double the number of engineers by this year-end for optimal utilisation of its expanded facility.
The company, however, did not disclose the number of seats at the centre, how many engineers are working currently and how many it plans to hire in the next three months.
Union Minister of State for Civil Aviation Jayant Sinha, who opened the new facility, commended Boeing for leveraging India’s talent and expertise for its advanced aerospace products and developing complex solutions for the world.
Endorsing Sinha’s view, Boeing India President Pratyush Kumar said the country offered the company huge growth potential for innovative and cutting-edge engineering.
Boeing has recently tied up with the Civil Aviation Ministry and Air India Engineering Services Ltd to develop an aircraft maintenance engineers accelerated apprenticeship programme, with a view to improving the employability of aircraft maintenance engineers through training and hands-on experience with actual aircraft.
