Solar tenders approximating 10 GW were announced in May 2018, which is nearly nine times more than the 1.3 GW tendered in April 2018. According to the tender trajectory issued by the Ministry of New and Renewable Energy (MNRE), 30 GW is expected to be tendered in FY 2018-19. In May 2018 alone, one-third of that entire target was tendered.

Compared to April 2018, in which only 40 MW of solar PV capacity was auctioned, May witnessed a spike in auctions with over 2 GW of solar PV capacity awarded.
